As a reference page for me, and to provide help for others, I list all the useful tips I have found for the Apple Mac and OS X.

• OS X and the Sony Ericsson P900 work pretty well together out-of-the-box but there are a number of ways to improve this. (Note: most of these tips will probably work with a P800 but I don't have one of these anymore so can't verify them.)

• Salling Clicker
  • If you want to use your phone as a wireless remote control for your Mac then you need Salling Clicker. It is an awesome piece of clever software which now supports the P900. I use it for controlling VLC and iTunes primarily, amongst many other things (like switching on my screensaver/screenlock when I walk away from the Mac).
  • Share2Blue2th now comes as a Salling Clicker script so you can initiate an Internet connection through the Mac from the phone - see my tip below.

• Share2Blue2th
  • Finally, a (relatively) easy way to use the Mac as an Internet gateway for the phone. Share2Blue2th is an AppleScript that connects to the phone over Bluetooth and sets up the Mac as a network gateway. I have used this and it works (most of the time).
  • Share2Blue2th can now be plugged into Salling Clicker which makes it a lot more useful IMHO (you can initiate the connection from the phone now, although you still need to authenticate on the Mac, unfortunately, so not an entirely Mac-free connection). See this mobilewhack.com forum page for details or direct download here (it doesn't seem to have a real homepage yet). I have used this and it works pretty well - although it doesn't always connect successfully, you have to keep re-connecting until it works. Disabling Address Book Bluetooth connection may actually help.
