Around the start of November Rod and I took a trip over to the US
to attend the annual
USENIX /
SAGE
LISA
conference, this year held in
sunny
Seattle.
We were there from friday, November 5, to
sunday, November 14 and we had a great time. Oh yeah, and we
learnt alot too (it was a business trip, after all!).

Shown here are some photos of the city of Seattle, as seen from the
famous Space Needle.
We were lucky enough to be greeted with a fine and sunny day on the
very last day of our stay in Seattle, as these shots show. The
rest of the trip we saw nothing but low, dark clouds and plenty
of rain!

We found Seattle to be a very nice city full of friendly people.
The distant views of the snow-capped mountains were awesome.

A lot of Seattle is set on the banks of bays and lakes. We hired an
Escort
to take a look around.

Passing a few "real American cars" like this
Lincoln Towncar,
and with the help of a
GPS,
we managed to find the home of
Microsoft in Redmond (15 minutes
east of downtown Seattle). Of course, we should have guessed the
address: 1 Microsoft Way !

The
Microsoft campus
is set over a large area with buildings in every
direction the eye could see. Luckily it was a sunday so all the
workers were locked in the underground dungeons. We even tried
to find
Bill's house,
but he has hidden it too well.
